Character Interview: Quinn, the Lord Consort

I’ve never done one of these character interviews before, so I hope you enjoy it!

What is your full name? Quinn Atwell dia Gagiya

How old are you? At the beginning of The Sage’s War, I am 28 years old.

Where are you from? I’m from Corthy, a small village outside a half-day’s ride from Chyry Vale, in the northern moorlands

What is your earliest memory? My father yelling, my mother crying, and me hiding in the corner after I overflowed the well somehow.

What sort of student were you? I was quiet but top of my class. I tried not to be noticed, which is hard when you’re the only Scholar in the village. At the Academy, I excelled in every class except magical practice.

Who was your first kiss and how old were you? My first kiss was Elaine. We were eighteen.

What did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be an adventurer. I’ve had enough adventures to last a lifetime now.

What is your biggest regret? Part of me wants to say not telling Amarice how I felt sooner. But that all boils down to a common thread with many of my regrets. I wish I had started believing in myself sooner. I wish I had the confidence to stand up for myself, to let myself enjoy life more. I wish I had believed I was worthy of happiness much, much sooner.

What is your greatest fear? Returning to my life before I found Amarice and happiness. Being stuck in a village like Corthy where no one cares about me.

Are you able to kill if necessary? If someone hurts Amarice, absolutely. I’ve done it, and I don’t regret it at all.

Do you want children? I think so. But I just want this war to end and everyone I love to come out of it safely before I even consider it.

What is your most treasured possession? The journal Rafe gave me

What is your biggest pet peeve? Amarice tossing her clothes and papers and books everywhere instead of putting them away. Lady Sage is more a Lady Slob.

What do you do to unwind? I go for a run, or I read. Usually something historical.
