Meet The Cast of The Scholars of Elandria

With the final installment of The Scholars of Elandria right around the corner, I thought you might want an introduction to some of the main cast. I’ve never done a character round-up like this, so I’m pretty pumped.

I’ve included characters that may or may not appear in all three books because I’m trying to prevent spoilers.

All right, let’s do this.

Quinn Atwell, Lord Consort

I’ve placed Quinn first because he’s the main point-of-view for the first two books. It wasn’t supposed to be that way! This was supposed to be Amarice’s story through and through, but Quinn had his own journey to share. Quinn is a powerful Scholar with no control over his magic when we first meet him. He’s shy and has incredibly low self-confidence. He’s clueless about what he wants to do in life, until he is accepted as the apprentice to the Sage of Elandria. Amarice helps him find himself, and he emerges as a badass. He’s got some pretty major demons in his past to confront and has a huge revelation about his identity. He’s also Boyfriend Goals.

Amarice Teyvana, Sage of Elandria

The Sage of Elandria is, historically, the most powerful Scholar in Elandria (and usually a woman). She functions as the leader of the Scholars and a political advisor to the reigning monarch, operating officially outside of lawmaking abilities. Amarice is the youngest and most powerful Sage that has ever lived because she is half-Deyoni and half-Scholar. She has powers previously thought impossible, such as conjuring fire or water from nothing instead of just manipulating it. Amarice might seem too perfect at first, but that’s just how Quinn sees her at the beginning. However, she’s got major commitment issues and a savior complex because of some demons in her past. We get to explore those in Book 3! She’s also got one hell of a temper and doesn’t always think things through when she gets angry.

Prince Raymond

I love Raymond, but I never expected him to become the fan favorite. Most of my readers have adopted him as their book boyfriend. Raymond is both prince and Scholar, but he doesn’t have very strong magic. He’s a smooth talking playboy, but he’s also smart, funny, and an amazing friend. Raymond used to be in love with Amarice, but she never returned those feelings. He was just a friend-with-benefits for a long time, and later he is just one of her closest friends.

King Roland

Raymond’s father, Roland, is a wonderful, friendly man. He’s like a father to Amarice, too, as she never really knew hers. Elandria has stayed peaceful for so long, that Roland is more of a ceremonial head of state, and he stays hands-off. Later, we find out that while he’s a great guy, he’s not so great at being a king.

Daisy

Amarice’s best friend is a fiery redheaded Apothecary. She lives at the Sage’s Villa, and the two friends met at the Academy. Daisy is more of a side character, but she has a bigger role in Book 3.

Jack

Jack is probably my favorite character to write. He is one of Quinn’s best friends from the Academy. He is a pansexual Casanova. He provides a lot of comic relief, but he’s not your typical clown. He’s an intelligent Apothecary and savvy business-owner. He’s also a really amazing friend to Quinn, who isn’t the easiest person to get to know.

Rafe

We meet Rafe in the very beginning of Book 1. He is Quinn’s roommate and first real friend. He’s a pretty powerful Scholar. He’s a lot of fun and pushes Quinn out of his comfort zone. He genuinely cares about Quinn and Jack.

Corbin

Corbin is Quinn’s younger brother. He is not a Scholar, but he doesn’t hold the same biases against them that the rest of his village does. He looks up to Quinn and later becomes a badass in his own right. He’s a self-taught Builder, and he marries the bubbly Janessa.

Elaine

Elaine is Quinn’s ex. She confessed her sin of sleeping with Quinn in front of their entire village, which led to Quinn being completely shunned (he was already pretty disliked) and leaving for capital. When we meet Elaine, she is living as a pariah in the village, but she has done a lot of work on overcoming the patriarchal conditioning of her childhood. In Book 3, she becomes a major character!
